Behind the sound

Axioses, born Sébastien Choquet on October 5, 1978, in Lens, is an artist whose passion for music began at a very young age. By the time he was four, he was already listening to his parents’ vinyl records with headphones glued to his ears, and he received his first guitar at age five. When he was seven, a stroke of luck changed everything: while helping tidy up a kindergarten classroom, he stumbled upon an old piano hidden under a pile of cardboard boxes. Fascinated, he started playing in secret every lunchtime until a teacher eventually caught him. This unexpected discovery became the true launching pad for his musical journey.

At the age of eight, Axioses began music theory classes. However, his learning was cut short after moving to a new school, where he was forced to start all over again simply because he didn’t fit into their standard “learning molds.” Frustrated by this rigid system and the boredom that came with it, he decided to leave the music school behind. He chose to become self-taught, exploring musical structures on his own to expand his skills. Demonstrating his versatility, he trained himself on a wide variety of keyboards, ranging from the piano to grand church organs.

In 1996, composing became a natural next step for him. He drew from his personal life experiences and rich cultural background to create a diverse and multifaceted sound. His music is deeply influenced by cinematic universes, as well as a wide array of legendary artists and bands, including Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, Serge Gainsbourg, Pink Floyd, Didier Marouani (Space), Freddie Mercury, Daft Punk, Mozart, Debussy, Chopin, and many others. After years of refining his craft, he finally took the plunge into professional production in April 2024, ready to share his unique and deeply inspired sonic world with the international audience.
